about

February 2011.

A foot of snow on top of 3 inches of ice, the three of us hauled our collection of instruments and amplifiers through the shin deep heavy wet sludge out of our vehicles, and into a basement of a friend’s, friend’s, coworker’s, cousin’s, pot dealer, that we rented for $50 for the weekend. It was not a finished basement. We set up our amplifiers and effects on sheets of plywood on the dirt floor, though fortunately there was a slab of concrete large enough for the drumset. Microphones placed and run to the mobile recording rig set up by the two recording engineer wizards that were able to make this record sound the way it does in these conditions.

10 hours of improvisations were pored over to select these few tracks that we had chosen to keep and intended to mix, and release. After the selected tracks were mixed and stored on the main engineer’s hard drive, the small studio where they worked was unfortunately broken into, and thousands of dollars worth of equipment were stolen, along with the computer, and the master tracks that were stored on it. What you’re hearing is what is left of the 10 hours of improvisations, mostly near a final mix.

Released posthumously via Dead Friends Recordings, this is the final recording the band had done before an indefinite hiatus.

Please enjoy listening at obscene volumes.

Thank you.
